Dreams of a Winter Nest

Here lives Carolina Wren ... I've seen her flit in & out of this hollowed-out Tree Stump on Spring / Summer days when there's much more coverage from Raspberry bushes & Grapevine. I never investigated too close so as not to disturb what I hoped was a nest in there 🥰.

But today as the snow softly falls, the path to the Tree Stump is open, no thorny bushes to navigate, & all was quiet (except for Blue Jay in the distance).

How ingenious! There's a small opening out the back of the Stump ... perfect little secret entry or exit when needed.

Oh, to have a secret passageway into a Winter nest - What would yours look like? Mine would be full of books 📚 with lots of pillows & heavy blankets for snuggling in ... a stove constantly warming tea 🍵 or soup ... & a little window to watch the Winter world outside. And there would be snacks. Lots of snacks 😉.

Winter Solstice is Wednesday - the longest night. My favorite day, because it signals that light is returning despite the cold Winter months ahead. In Ayurveda, the science of daily living & longevity, we are invited to enjoy heavier, richer foods, take rest seriously, & reflect on the year behind us. To offer Gratitude, and Let Go of what no longer serves. It's the perfect time to feather 🪶 our nests & settle in.

Wishing you the ability to honor this time in your own way -- maybe an extra moment with your tea/coffee in the quiet morning, or making a beloved meal from your family tradition, or some time journaling at the end of your day.

The busy-ness of Spring will be upon us soon enough. Let's cherish this time until Carolina Wren returns ❤️.
