Every One of These Postures is "Advanced"
Did you know?
Every single one of these yoga postures is an "advanced" posture.
Yoga postures, according to ancient texts, have TWO primary goals: To establish stability and comfort in the body.
The Sanskrit terms are Sthira (stability) and Sukkha (comfort, or literally "good space").
Therefore, the postures that support YOU in establishing "good space" in YOUR own body are how you "advance" or progress in your own practice.
So, for your unique body and life -- Sthira and Sukkha could be learning how to sit for meditation. It could be learning how to find more stability and comfort in balancing postures. It could be learning how to REST in the "good space" that is YOUR body today at this time.
And you can likely see how the practice is really not about the posture 🤭😉 ... the posture is only an entry point ...
How can I sit / stand in my life with stability and ease?
How can I regain my balance when life knocks me sideways?
How can I REST my body and my mind, knowing who I am, what I do and what I have is ENOUGH?
I hope you'll join Brynn Cunningham for her arm balancing workshop and/or me for my 5-week Intro to Yoga Series: Build Your Practice in 2025! ... both at OMBody in January!
