Caterpillar Munchies

So my morning walks now begin in the dark, as Summer wanes. The quiet was LOVELY this morning (outer quiet … my inner world is RARELY so 🤣) …

Two mornings ago, the silhouette of a heron at the tippy top of a slim tree greeted me as I stepped into the Sheepskin Trail from Barton Mill Road. S/he was framed by the morning sky, all pinks and blues.

Yesterday I was gifted with 3 deer crossing the practice green by the golf course … a buck and 2 more (does?) … they quietly meandered through the morning fog & no photos of mine would do them justice.

Anyway, the sunrise comes now at the end of my walk … and as I came to our house I noted the little butterfly weed plants that Jim has been very careful not to mow over … WHAAAAAATTT?!

A fat monarch caterpillar chewing methodically on the leaves.

When I say I dropped to eye level & indulged in childlike glee, I cannot emphasize ‼️ it enough.

Funnily enough, there’s a whole patch of milkweed and butterfly weed in our backyard, just WAITING for monarchs … & This little one found the baby plants along the front walk 🤷 … Hopefully there’s enough to satisfy.

It’s a great day to notice the gifts showing themselves to you today 🥰.

I practice & share Hatha Yoga for a simple reason -- it works. Hatha Yoga in the Himalayan Tradition is a holistic system of philosophy & practices passed down through an unbroken 5,000 year lineage of Himalayan sages. What Hatha Yoga is not: trendy, bendy or one-&-done. What Hatha Yoga is: a systematic approach to uncovering the real, authentic YOU in body, mind & spirit. Hatha Yoga cultivates well-being, stability, clarity & ease in modern life through traditional, time-tested practices. I also recognize both our shared humanity & our differing privileges & barriers -- I am a cis-gendered white female with a graduate degree, who has dealt with family trauma & an eating disorder. My goals in my own practice include to cultivate awareness of my own privileges & social conditioning, unlearn & re-learn in order to be mindful & take compassionate action toward a more beautiful, just & peaceful world for ALL humans, creatures & our Earth. I'm making mistakes daily, & hopeful that I'm falling forward toward these goals & vision. I hope we can walk our paths & support each other along the way.
